SAMPLING AND TESTING

CHEMICAL IDENTIFICATION

No matter if it’s a high school chemistry lab, bulk terminal accumulating damaged packages, or a maintenance department that has stored old, outdated materials; it is quite common to discover that the identification markings are no longer recognizable or present.

In order to safely and properly dispose of these materials, you must be able to identify what these materials are, and what hazards they may present. BES prides itself on solving these dilemmas. BES field chemists are fully trained, certified, knowledgeable, and experienced to identify and characterize unknown substances through field testing or laboratory analysis which will insure that your materials are disposed of properly.

PHASE I AND PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL SITE ASSESSMENTS

We service the Commercial Real Estate Industry, Developers, Insurers, Purchasers, and Sellers by using up-to-date ASTM standards (Phase I Site Assessment E1527 and Phase II Site Assessment E1903) to determine and minimize risk associated with Property Transactions.

VISUAL MOLD INSPECTIONS

We conduct mold inspections that are performed by professionals with specific experience in the following mold sampling protocols, sampling methods, and results interpretation.

We follow the analytical methods recommended by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

AT NO COST, WE WILL PERFORM THE VISUAL INSPECTION PROCESS THAT IDENTIFIES “RED FLAGS”.

A “Red Flag” is defined as any situation or condition that is favorable for mold growth, visible mold, exhibiting signs of water intrusion, or where the certified mold inspector senses “musty” odors, and/or an occupant states they have mold-related health symptoms. The visual inspection is the most important initial step in identifying a possible mold problem and in determining remedial strategies. Call us today to schedule your visual inspection… It’s free!

MOLD TESTING (AIR ANALYSIS)

Once it is determined that you have visible mold or conditions that may promote mold growth, you have the option to request an air sample analysis (or more commonly known as a mold test). The air sample analysis will determine how much mold you have on your property.

We use the following technique to test for mold:

We use a Biopump Plus with Air-o-Cell filters to gather air samples from the outside and any suspect areas within the house.
The air samples from the suspect areas within your house are compared to the outside air sample at an American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) approved lab. If a suspect area air sample has a mold spur count greater than the outside mold spur count, mold is present.
The final report will include photos of the suspect areas, a written report explaining the lab results and any suggestions or recommendations, along with the actual lab results. This can be provided to you through email and/or regular mail.
The mold testing process from beginning (take air samples) to end (to receiving results report) takes approximately 5-7 days.
